Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English literature. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington she was made general reporter by NBC News two year later. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was host and a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during 1988's presidential debates, in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell initially covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. The reporting she did included plenty of important stories like the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms, as well as the arms control. She traveled widely together with the president Reagan during summits along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
